Instructional Program Lead (Full-Time, OCT Required)

Etobicoke, ON | Monday–Friday, 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Appletree Learning Centre is seeking a highly reliable, proactive, and committed Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) to join our team in a full-time Instructional Program Lead role.

This is not a traditional teaching position. It is a structured, high-impact role that combines high-quality instruction with meaningful contributions to the day-to-day operations and overall effectiveness of the centre.

This position is best suited for educators seeking a long-term, stable role outside of the traditional school board pathway, and an opportunity to contribute within a smaller, high-performing team.

About Appletree Learning Centre

Appletree Learning Centre is a growing organization with locations in Etobicoke and Halton. We specialize in one-on-one academic remediation for students with learning differences and gaps in foundational skills.

Our instruction is rooted in Direct Instruction (DI) and other evidence-based programs, including JUMP Math. Sessions are highly structured, fast-paced, and focused on building measurable progress in literacy, math, and written expression.

About the Role

This role is structured to maintain strong teaching hours while also providing dedicated time to support the centre’s operations.

Daily structure includes:

  • 5–6 hours: Direct, one-on-one instruction

  • Approximately 2 hours:

    • Lesson preparation

    • Collaboration with the admin and leadership team

    • Supporting internal projects and centre organization

This structure ensures that instructional time remains a priority while allowing for meaningful contributions beyond student sessions.

Who This Role Is For

This role is best suited for someone who:

  • Is highly reliable and consistent

  • Takes ownership of their role and follows through without close supervision

  • Is intentionally seeking a long-term position outside of traditional classroom teaching

  • Is a self-starter who takes initiative

  • Actively contributes to team effectiveness and centre operations

  • Is comfortable working in a structured, fast-paced environment

  • Is motivated by being part of a growing organization, not just fulfilling a set role

This role is not a fit for candidates seeking short-term positions, supplemental work, or a temporary transition out of the school system.

It is particularly well suited for educators who value structure, measurable progress, and being part of a team that prioritizes instructional consistency and student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, one-on-one instruction in literacy and math (up to Grade 8)

  • Implement Direct Instruction (DI) programs with fidelity

  • Prepare thoroughly for all teaching sessions

  • Collaborate with leadership and administrative staff

  • Take initiative in supporting internal projects, including:

    • Supporting organization and systems within the centre

    • Assisting with resource development

    • Providing support to the administrative team as needed

Commitment Expectations

We invest significant time and resources into training and development. To ensure continuity for our students:

  • This is a permanent, full-time position that continues consistently throughout the year, including the summer months

  • Hours and schedule remain stable and do not change during the summer

  • This role must be prioritized over other teaching opportunities

  • Candidates should be seeking a long-term role with stability and growth

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Assets

  • Special Education qualifications or experience

  • Experience with SRA Direct Instruction programs
