Executive Functions Strategies: Grades 6-8

Our Executive Functions workshop will teach students the skills necessary to get things done. Students will learn how to prioritize their work, create schedules and routines, break down large tasks into smaller more manageable chunks, and more! Topics covered during the workshop include: organization, time management, study strategies, goal setting and decision making. Students will get to know their own learning strengths, explore a variety of tools and strategies, and select the ones that work best for them.
All participants will receive the following materials: Five Star zipper binder, labels and dividers, writing tools, notebook planner and accordion folder.

Handwriting Heroes: Printing Practice K-2

During this interactive and exciting workshop, our little heroes will be engaged in a variety of fine motor and gross motor activities to help them get ready to print. Using the researched-based, award-winning Handwriting Without Tears program, students will be taught strategies for letter formation, spacing, neatness and writing efficiency.
All participants will take home a Handwriting Without Tears workbook and pencil for little hands!

Little Newtons in the Making: Time, Money & Fractions Grades 1-3

Our interactive and engaging early math workshop is designed to unleash students' developing numeracy skills! Through structured inquiry, our Little Newtons will be engaged in a number of hands-on math activities which will focus on time, money and fractions. Based on the Number Sense strand of Ontario’s mathematics curriculum, this class offers students the chance to develop their math confidence in a supportive environment.

Multiplication & Division Grades 4-6

This comprehensive multiplication and division workshop is designed to increase student confidence in these fundamental math concepts. Topics include: multiplication and division fact fluency, multiplication and division strategies, single- and multi-digit multiplication, equal groups and sharing, remainders, long division, and word problems. Based on the Number Sense and Numeration strand of Ontario’s mathematics curriculum, this workshop offers students the chance to develop their math confidence in a supportive environment, emphasizing the importance of mental math strategies. Students will have the chance to consolidate their multiplication and division skills in a fun, engaging, and supportive way!

Numbers and Letters and Equations, Oh My! Grades 6-8

This pre-algebra workshop is designed to increase student confidence with algebra! This workshop will cover the following topics: variables, equations, graphing, and slope. Based on the Algebra strand of Ontario’s mathematics curriculum, this workshop offers students the chance to develop their math confidence in a supportive environment, while engaging in fun experiments to consolidate their learning and develop an awareness of real-world application. Many students feel apprehensive about letters and numbers in math. This workshop will provide the foundational skill-set they will need in order to understand the relationship between letters and numbers, recognize patterns, and to experience greater success overall in secondary mathematics.

Learn to Write - Keyboarding, Cursive & Paragraph Writing

Designed for students in grades 3-5, this immersive workshop will help enhance students' paragraph writing, penmanship and typing skills. While learning to create captivating paragraphs, students will be introduced to proper keyboarding techniques, correct posture and hand positioning, efficient typing strokes, and strategies to improve accuracy and speed. Using explicit instruction combined with guided practice to promote handwriting automaticity, students will also practice the fundamentals of cursive writing.

Primary & Junior STEM: Structures

Our hands-on STEM workshops are specially crafted for primary and junior level students. Through engaging activities, interactive experiments, and collaborative projects, students will explore the principles of design, construction, and stability. They will apply their creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills as they design and build their own towers, planes, bridges and more. From brainstorming blueprints to testing the strength of their creations, every step of the process is an adventure in problem-solving and innovation. This workshop will foster critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Poetry & Creative Writing

In this fun and engaging writing workshop, students will explore and analyze a variety of poetic genres and creative literature. They will work on producing a collection of their very own poems and short stories to create their own Chapbooks! This workshop is designed for students in grades 2-4.

Essay Writing

Students in grades 6-8 will be introduced to the Plan, Organize, Write, Edit, Revise (POWER) system of writing; participating in both collaborative and individual writing activities, as they work on producing their own 5-paragraph essay.

Workshops will run with a minimum of 2 participants and maximum of 4.
